A mediation on loneliness told from the perspectives of three people who are forced to spend time with one another. Each of them is burdened by their past in a way that makes their present harder to navigate. Through their time together they force each other to be a little better—or at least more empathetic. The performances here are nuanced and subtle; there’s trauma below the surface of each character. There’s humor, too, to balance it out. Despite the pedestrian circumstances that bring these people together and slice of life set up, the film scratches at a deeper sense of meaning with its heavier themes.
